Hello, my name is Beate Haije and I am an independent artist.
I just graduated from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, with a focus on fine arts.
My passion lies with creating sculptures and paintings, however I also enjoy drawing, making clothing, poetry, and making music.

This website is is the fruit of a creative process with my brorther, and shows a subselection of my work as part of my art universe.
On the homepage it shows my conceptual art universe, in which the various types of art I make are shown as planets.
Each planet has a number of asteroids circling around it, which correspond to the art pieces of that type I made.
However, this division of art in categories is not static. Just as some of my paintings might provide inspiration for sculptures, can asteroids fly from one planet to another in the art universe.
This interaction between types of art is also interactive: every website visitor sees a unique configuration and can change the position of the planets to their will.
